He was one of ten children born into a family deeply engaged in farming and religious music in a small village. Despite the limited educational opportunities typical of his rural upbringing, he demonstrated an innate curiosity and ambition from a young age. He pursued higher education at Loyola College in Vijayawada and later attended Andhra University, where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy. Not content with stopping there, he continued to expand his academic horizons by obtaining a Master's degree in Biochemical Engineering and Pharmaceutical Technology.
Career
His professional career began with a comprehensive rotational internship at Hoechst in Mumbai, where he was exposed to various aspects of pharmaceutical manufacturing and laboratory operations. After completing his Master's degree, he accepted a position at Bharat Salt and Chemicals in Orissa, which marked the beginning of his upward trajectory in the field. In 1977, seeking greater opportunities, he relocated to the United States with minimal resources but a resolute spirit.
He started in modest roles, quickly advancing within the industry at companies like PurePack (now Teva) and Barr Labs. By 1978, he had ascended to the role of production manager at ICN Pharmaceuticals. His entrepreneurial venture began in 1984 when he founded Able Labs. He skillfully guided the company through the intricate pharmaceutical landscape to gain approval for significant generic products, including Tranxene tablets and Monistat suppositories.
Since 2003, he has played a crucial advisory role at KVK Tech. At KVK Tech, he helps shape the strategies that propel the company as a leader in developing and manufacturing high-quality, FDA-approved medicines. His insights and expertise have been instrumental in KVK Tech's mission to deliver affordable pharmaceutical solutions to those in need, enhancing the company's impact in the healthcare sector.
